On Friday the 13th, the 2024 WDSF GrandSlam Final Shanghai kicked off with a dazzling Red Carpet event at the Shanghai New World Daimaru. Against an elegant and sophisticated backdrop, our athletes took center stage, delighting the audience with their charm and grace. It was an evening to remember, setting the perfect tone for what promised to be an extraordinary weekend of DanceSport at the WDSF GrandSlam in collaboration with BD Dance.

The 2024 WDSF GrandSlam Final Shanghai Latin Begins

Held at the Shanghai Luwan Stadium, the spotlight turned to the competition floor yesterday, where the 2024 WDSF GrandSlam Final Shanghai Latin took place. Featuring the world’s top 12 Latin couples, the event unfolded over three thrilling rounds: the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and the Finals.

The Quarter-Finals saw 12 couples performing in three heats of four, each delivering breathtaking performances to secure their spot in the next stage. The Semi-Finals intensified the action with two heats of five couples, leaving only the six best pairs to battle it out in the Finals. The climax featured an electrifying face-off format, where each rhythm included three dances, showcasing the exceptional talent and artistry of the competitors.

Germany’s 1 TC Ludwigsburg claimed the championship with their bold and innovative routine, “Rise of the Black Swan”, marking their first World Championship title in Formation Standard since their victory on November 28, 2015, in Ludwigsburg, Germany. This long-awaited triumph showcased their enduring excellence and adaptability in the discipline.

Their victory also reignited their rivalry with fellow German team Braunschweiger TSC, who performed their routine, “Unforgettable #17 – The Final Curtain”. Despite their second-place finish, Braunschweiger TSC once again demonstrated their mastery, having recently edged out Ludwigsburg at the German Championships.

Dutch team DSV Sway of Life (A Team) completed the podium with their third-place finish, delivering an exceptional performance filled with creativity and technical precision.

Under the guidance of their coach, Roberto Albanese, the team delivered the most challenging routine of the evening with impeccable execution. Their high-speed choreography, paired with seamless transitions and striking musicality, earned them 36.48 points, the highest of the evening, and left the audience in awe.

Facing fierce competition from the Austrian HSV Zwölfaxing and the creative routines of the Mongolian teams Moon Dance and Star, Grün-Gold-Club Bremen once again demonstrated why they are the gold standard in Formation Latin.
