On November 8–9, 2025, the city of Pontault-Combault (France) will once again host one of the most anticipated events in the European DanceSport calendar: the Saphir Cup, celebrating its 16th edition as part of the Grand Prix International de Seine-et-Marne.

Held at the Espace Roger Boislarmé (85 Avenue Charles Rouxel), the event gathers top athletes from across Europe and beyond — uniting passion, elegance, and high-level competition under one roof.

The Saphir Cup 2025 promises two full days of performances covering the entire spectrum of DanceSport disciplines, from the official WDSF categories to national French competitions.

Pietro Braga Unveils Italy’s DanceSport Renaissance at WDSF Open Forum

Bucharest, June 14/15, 2025 – A defining moment for Italian DanceSport took place at the WDSF Open Forum in Bucharest, where Pietro Braga, International Technical Director of FIDESM, was officially invited by the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) to present Italy’s new global project.

This invitation marks more than a personal milestone—it is a clear signal that Italy is once again a key player on the world stage of DanceSport, returning with strength, clarity of vision, and an ambitious roadmap.

A Strategic Plan to Relaunch Italy

During his speech, Braga outlined a forward-looking and high-level plan that positions Italy as a central hub in the international DanceSport calendar:

WDSF Grand Slam – Standard and Latin, Rome, October 3–5, 2025
European Championships – Adult 10 Dance
European Championships – Professional Division Latin (PD)
WDSF Congresses for Adjudicators (AJS) and Competition Directors
Further international WDSF events under development

This initiative is not just about competitions—it’s a cultural and institutional revival. Rome is set to become the beating heart of world DanceSport once again.

Italy’s Return to the Global Stage

Braga’s presence and speech at the WDSF Open Forum was a powerful symbol of regained trust and respect. Delegates from around the globe received his presentation with great interest and appreciation, reaffirming Italy’s readiness to lead with bold ideas and world-class execution.

This past weekend, the Sport’s Centre of Gdańsk Medical University reverberated with rhythm, precision, and sheer brilliance! Marceli Józefowicz and Julia Kawa, one of Poland’s most dynamic dance duos, triumphantly defended their title as Vice-Champions of Poland in the 10-Dance Combination! Their electrifying performance highlighted not only their technical mastery but also the artistic synergy that continues to mesmerize audiences nationwide.

Triumph in Gdańsk: Grace Meets Grit

Under the spotlight of the packed arena, the duo delivered a breathtaking showcase across all ten dances, seamlessly blending the sophistication of Standard ballroom with the explosive energy of Latin styles. Their foxtrot exuded playful precision, while their cha-cha sizzled with sharp, synchronized flair—earning rave reviews from judges for creativity and emotional depth. This back-to-back podium finish cements their reputation as rising stars of Poland’s dance scene.

Rising Through European Ranks

2024 was a landmark year for the pair. In a stunning debut, they became finalists at the European Youth 10-Dance Championships in October 2024, competing as first-year Youth category dancers. Just two months later, they advanced to the semifinals of the European Championships in Riga, Latvia, holding their own against seasoned rivals. These milestones underscore their rapid ascent in the sport.
“Competing in Europe as first-years was daunting, but it pushed us to grow faster. Every round taught us to trust our training and each other,” shares Julia.

Elite Coaching, Local Roots

Their meteoric rise is fueled by a powerhouse coaching team. Internationally acclaimed mentors Antoni Czyżyk, Pietro Braga and Karina Rubio infuse their routines with world-class technique and innovation. Meanwhile, local coaches Mateusz Czyżyk and Anna Czyżyk provide unwavering support, honing their physical stamina and mental resilience. This dual approach ensures the pair thrives both on and off the floor.

With no time to rest, Marceli and Julia are charging into a packed 2025 season:

New date set for 2021 WDSF World Breaking Championships17/07/2020

The World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) and Chinese DanceSport Federation are pleased to announce that a new date for the rescheduled WDSF World Breaking Championships in Nanjing, China has been set for 20 June 2021.

Originally scheduled to take place in August 2020, the Championships were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This rescheduled event will take place at the Lishui Sports Centre and is expected to attract some 150 b-boys and b-girls.

“The success of the 2019 Breaking World Championships in Nanjing gives us great confidence in our Chinese hosts, who are aiming to organise an even more spectacular event next year,” said WDSF President Shawn Tay. “The health of the Breakers, organisers and fans remains our top priority, of course, and we are committed to working with the local organisers to ensure the best and safest conditions possible.”

The WDSF will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation around the world and follow recommendations from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the government of the People’s Republic of China with regard to the organisation of the World Championships.

Detailed information on the updated deadlines and qualification procedures will be communicated in the coming months.

The WDSF World Breaking Championships will be jointly organised by the WDSF, the Chinese DanceSport Federation, the Social Sports Administration Centre of Jiangsu Province, the Nanjing Sports Bureau, and the Lishui District People’s Government of Nanjing City.
